The Importance of Presentation
Customers want a quality product at an affordable price. Sometimes the price has to be lower if quality falls.
The quality of a product is defined by its look, in the view of most customers. The Gamechanger and Gamechanger Pro are designed to dramatically increase picking performance but yet improve the look and presentation of mushrooms in the punnet.
The question is how does the Gamechanger do this?
This is achieved as:
a) It lifts mushrooms in groups and places them accurately in the punnet in a staggered arrangement. This reduces movement of the mushrooms in the punnet and tends to keep the mushroom with the heads up. There are different defined placement positions for large and small mushrooms. When placing the nmushrooms the Stalk length is managed from within in the software.
b) Accurately cut stalks ensures a “regular look” to each stalk length as well as increasing yield, with at least a 5% additional weight.
c) When training the pickers we train pickers to keep to a more regular sizing when picking. By grazing the crop, pickers pick and place similar size mushrooms in the punnet and the uniformity promotes a better presentation.
d) The low Vacuum PSI and the specific suckers used mean that even after 7 days no dark rings or marks are visible on the mushrooms.
e) The accurate weighing function on the Gamechanger means no weight checking or touching of mushrooms is required prior to packing. Mushrooms touched a few hours after picking, do damage a lot more than at the time of picking. This will be seen with a dark patch on the mushrooms quite quickly, within days.
f) With two handed picking we can greatly improve picking speeds which also comes along with the improvement in the placement in the cups with no damage.
g) The reduction in picking tasks allows pickers to concentrate on 2 tasks and become good at that. These tasks are picking the right mushrooms and placement in the cups. All other functions are carried out by the machine.
When production is low and demand is high, customers will take a lower quality product. However, when demand is low customers will start to gravitate to higher quality products produced at the right price or significant price reductions. You can easily lose customers during a time of low demand with the likely hood that they may never return. Good presentation all the time will minimise these risks.
Shops want their customers to buy their product. Well-presented products encourage customers to buy. It has already been proved that presentation pays by increasing sales
