Delivering Results – Implementation Procedures
Personnel / Pickers
It is important to take note of the following Implementation Procedures when selecting and training pickers to operate the Gamechanger Pro.
a) Pickers need to be committed to operating the Gamechanger Pros over a period of several weeks. Ensure they are not going on holidays in a few days.
b) It is important initially that one person has a level of English so we can communicate instructions to the pickers or that someone that can translate is available.
c) Need to increase the area that pickers will be allowed to pick to ensure they can adequately increase picking speeds. 9 windows are not enough for adequate training.
d) Pickers need to learn how to graze the crop. This means they are doing the following:
(1) Setting the lift to continuously move at a slow speed
(2) Picking of the bigger mushrooms on the bed, while leaving the smaller for the next pass.
(3) Decrease the size of mushrooms picked on each pass
(4) Stop starting and stopping the lifts as they pick
e) Aisles need to be kept clear on the side where the Gamechanger Pro is being used
f) The side where the machines are being used should be continually monitored so additional pickers can be added to help pick the aisle if required especially on the lower aisles and more so in the early stages of training
g) Pickers should be incentivised for the first 2 weeks to ensure machines run and to compensate until picking rates increase as expected on the 2nd week.
Pickers Operating Tasks
a) The Gamechanger Pro should be switched on as soon as the pickers arrives in the room
b) The Battery voltage should be checked – should be around 24Volts
c) Clean suckers need to be fixed to the machine
d) Pickers need to loads the Lifts with an adequate number of the required punnets and trays
e) While someone should empty the bin initially it is essential that Pickers should empty the bins after a week or so in order for them to be aware of the essentials of the machine.
f) Pickers should graze the crop (always moving, picking correct size)
g) Suckers will need to be changed occasionally
h) The machines need to be cleaned – quick wipe down / bin emptied, platform cleaned from refuse every day.
Other Assigned Responsibilities
a) Someone needs to be responsible to ensure Lift and Machines are set up in the correct room prior to the next day picking.
b) Check movement of Lift – Vertical and Horizontal
c) Batteries need to be changed
d) Batteries need to be charged
e) Lifts needed to be pressure washed when moved to another room
f) Gamechanger Trays / Belts / etc. need to be pressure washed
g) Wipe down of Gamechanger need to be undertaken every day
The Gamechanger is the only viable harvesting solution for existing mushroom farms.
