Delivering Results – Other Solutions
The Mushroom Machine Company Ltd have a few other solutions that allow 2 handed picking and that can significantly increase picking rates.
The Gamechanger Cord Conveyor, Gamechanger Cord Box and Gamechanger Cord Punnet have different packing characteristics and different training needs and can be useful for picking product for different customer types.
Some of the main differences are:
a) The Gamechanger and Gamechanger Pro are designed to improve presentation of the mushrooms in the container. Exact placement of mushrooms with the stalks down and heads up provides customers with a well-presented product for retail along with high picking rates and accurately cut stalks.
b) The Gamechanger Cord Punnet and Gamechanger Cord Box allow 2 handed picking and high pick rates with accurately cut stalks. However, the presentation of the mushrooms in the containers would not be at the level expected when selling to retail customers. If these mushrooms were going t customers like wholesale, hospitality or production customers, presentation may not be high on the priority list as it should be regarding retail customers.
c) The Gamechanger Cord is actually easier to train pickers on than the for example the Gamechanger Pro. We have found that a doubling of the picking rates within hours and days of first installing. It can also be an “entry level” training device which allows pickers to concentrate on picking with 2 hands.
d) The Gamechanger Cord has no real limit to its capacity as the cord can be speeded up or reduced easily. The faster the cord the more mushrooms it will handle.
e) If the Gamechanger Cord has the cords going around very fast, it is possible to get additional unneeded mushrooms in the container as it is impossible to weigh mushrooms when falling. This may increase the product giveaway per container.
f) Every effort has been made to ensure that the distance the mushrooms drop is as short as possible but there is still a drop into the tray or punnet. This drop will cause damage to mushrooms and will be seen by browning or bruising which may not be seen for a few days. The damage would be more on the first mushrooms dropped as the stop will be more abrupt with an empty container.
g) Gamechanger Cord Conveyor allows us to provide a different solution for older infrastructural mushroom houses which do not have the room at the ends of the shed. We can fit box, punnet Cord solutions at the shelf end and with plans to utilise the Gamechanger Pro at the end of the conveyor at the start of the year.
We have several solutions which will provide fast, no frills harvesting aids other than the Gamechangers or Gamechanger Pro.
Producers can now select different tools for different jobs.
The Gamechanger is the only viable harvesting solution for existing mushroom farms.
